Days of mists and mellow fruitfulness for this Red October wedding

THE BIGGEST DAY OF THIS HAPPY COUPLE’S LIVES IS MADE EVEN MORE MEMORABLE COURTESY OF MOTHER NATURE...

-

IT’S the one thing about their wedding day no couple can control – the weather.

But nothing could have prepared Colette and Tristan Cooper for the truly bizarre conditions that greeted their nuptials on Monday.

The pair, from Scotswood, Newcastle, woke up on their special day to eerie mists, a strange orange glow in the sky and a red sun.

The sun’s unusual colour was caused by a large amount of red Saharan dust being kicked up by Storm Ophelia and blown towards the UK.

It was far from the clear day Colette and Tristan had been hoping for, but made for some stunning wedding pictures as they tied the knot at Ellingham Hall in Northumberland.

Clinical scientist Colette, 33, said: “We had absolutely no idea it was going to be like that.

“I’d been keeping a check on the forecast and it looked like it was going to be a bit cloudy and then the sun would come out in the afternoon.

“I couldn’t believe it when I walked outside – it was like walking on to a film set.

“There was all this mist and low lying fog and the sun was a really strange colour.”

Colette, who works for the NHS at Newcastle’s Centre for Life, got engaged to architect Tristan, 30, in August last year. She said the unusual weather made their big day even more special.

She added: “Everyone kept telling us how unique it was, and even though we didn’t have sun it was really special.

“The pictures are amazing – we couldn’t believe it when we saw them.”

The newlyweds are now hoping for slightly sunnier weather as they jet off to their honeymoon in Italy.
