Wan great night as club’s finest net the top awards
WANSBECK Netball Club held their annual presentation night at Netherton Social Club, where team and individual successes of the last year were celebrated.
In the Northumberland County Netball Association Winter League, Wansbeck’s under-14A and under16A teams won their respective championships.
And the Ladies’ A and B teams were runners-up in Divisions One and Three respectively.
In the NCNA Spring League, Wansbeck’s Ladies’ C squad finished runners-up in Division Three.
The under-11A and under-16A teams were runners-up in the NCNA Summer League.
The Ladies’ B squad was runnerup in Division Two and the Ladies’ C side won Division Three and achieved promotion to Division Two next year.
In the NCNA Junior Tournament, Wansbeck’s under-11A and under14A squads were both runners-up in their respective categories.
St Benet Biscop Academy Under14s (represented exclusively by Wansbeck under-14 players) won the Northumberland round of the National Schools Tournament. Meanwhile, individual performance accolades included High Five players being awarded skills certificates.
Emma Richardson and Jasmine Lee were selected for the Team Northumbria Under-13 Stars Development Squad.
Ella Westerby, Aimee Urwin, Lauren Goose, Cara Jessop, Lilli Westerby and Olivia Barber were picked for the NCNA Performance Satellite Squad.
Natasha Hart, Mia Bliss, Emma Richardson, Jasmine Lee and Olivia Coulthard were selected for the NCNA Performance Academy squad.
Karen Shirley and Iain Richardson were also honoured with the Unsung Hero and Officiating Awards respectively at the NCNA’s annual presentation evening. Player of the Season awards went to: Winter League Under-14A – Emma Richardson. Under-14B – Cara Jessop. Under-16A – Cobie Smith, Natasha Hart and Mia Bliss. Under-16B – Emma Richardson.
Spring League Ladies A – Lynn Scott. Ladies B – Brooke Pritchard. Ladies C – Emma Richardson, Claire Allan and Katie Watts.
Summer League Under-11A – Cody Sullivan. Under-11B – Kelly Derbyshire. Under-14A – Emma Richardson. Under-14B – Olivia Barber. Under-16 – Millie Hall and Emma Richardson. Ladies A – Jade Appleby. Ladies B – Brooke Pritchard. Ladies C – Emma Richardson.
Most Improved Player awards: Under-11s – Cody Sullivan, Under13s – Ellie Arkle, Under-14s – Katherine Skelton, Under-15s – Millie Hall, Under-16s – Mia Bliss.
