SCANS ALSO SHOW HIS RARE CANCER HAS NOT PROGRESSED

HE’S been through so much, but little Kian Musgrove is all smiles at the heartwarming news that he is about to become a big brother.

The five-year-old and his family were over the moon last month when they learned that the cancer Kian has been fighting has not progressed.

And there were soon two reasons to celebrate after his mum Kat announced that she is expecting another baby.

The news has brought joy to a family that has seen plenty of heartache since Kian’s cancer diagnosis almost four years ago.

Kat, 29, says the youngster is overjoyed at becoming an older brother for the first time.

“He’s so excited and happy – all the kids are.

“We told the kids first before we told anyone else and they were all bouncing and jumping around screaming.”

It means Kian will no longer be the youngest child in the family, which includes his older sister Katie, seven.

Kat’s partner Leon Paul, 37, also has three children – Nathan, six, Ellie, 10, and Natalia, 11.

Kat is 15 weeks into the pregnancy and says the new arrival is due just one day before Kian’s own due date.

Prudhoe schoolboy Kian is due to go back to America in January for the final round of treatment for childhood cancer neuroblastoma. After more than a year travelling back and forth to New York, Kat learned last month that the disease her son has been fighting has not progressed. Kian was first diagnosed with stage four neuroblastoma in October 2013. The cancer attacked the nerve cells around his kidneys on an adrenal gland where a tumour had developed.

It then travelled around his body and spread to his bones and across his pelvis.

After treatment to kill off the disease, the cancer came back in December 2015 and he started undergoing treatment at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, in New York, early last year.

His family are continuing to raise funds to help towards his treatment, which is costing thousands of pounds.
