To send a message of hope

-

Childline this Christmas with worries about bullying, mental health, domestic abuse and even wanting to take their own lives.

“Currently only three in four of these children will get through. With your help we can provide a lifeline for every child who needs us this Christmas.

“Our Newcastle service provides therapeutic programmes for children who have experienced abuse, and with your donations, we can help more children who desperately need us.”

The public can donate on the night with bucket collections, or text ‘Lights 15’ to 70 744 to donate £4, which will be put straight back into the charity and could pay for a young person’s vital call to Childline.

The event will begin at 5.30pm, with the lights switched on at 6.30pm, and at least 5,000 people are expected to join the festivities and start the official countdown to Christmas.

Visitors are advised to come by public transport, as the streets will be crowded with the Christmas shopping season will be in full swing.

The NSPCC, the UK’s largest children’s charity, fights the battle for children against issues such as neglect, domestic and sexual abuse, trafficking and cyberbullying.

To help Childline be there for every young person who desperately needs support, you can donate £4 by texting ‘NSPCC 4’ to 70755 or by visiting nspcc.org.uk/chronicle.

Text costs include your donation of £4 plus your standard network rate.

The NSPCC will receive 100% of your donation.
