AUTUMNWATCH
BBC2, 8pm BRITISH wildlife has been ‘Big Brothered’ this week as hidden cameras let us in on their secret behaviour. Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan and Martin HughesGames have been reporting from the National Trust’s Sherborne Park Estate.
We’ve been entertained with wormcharming, the social calls of bats, and of course, what would autumn be without a few rutting deer?
In this last episode, the presenters drop in on the live cameras around the estate, bidding a farewell to the stars of the series – we’re talking otters, owls, badgers and beavers.
Plus there’s a final update from Gillian Burke, who has been testing the intelligence of those cunning urban foxes.
THE THREE-DAY NANNY
More4, 9pm FACED with one of the Feral Families (left), professional nanny Kathryn Mewes would no doubt be aghast at their ‘no rule’ parenting. But as she returns for a new series, she does actually prescribe a little freedom for a tantrum-throwing toddler.
Two-year-old Sebastian will hit, bite, slap and kick to get his parents’ attention – and he literally bangs his head against the wall (or the floor) in a rage.
“He’s made my nose bleed at least once,” says dad Paul. While mum Livia says: “They say terrible twos, but I’ve never seen anything like it.”
But it’s Sebastian who Kathryn feels sorry for, immediately clocking why he’s frustrated – he’s allowed zero freedom, often penned into a cot and told off.
“Imagine being that kid, he is trapped,” says Kathryn. But it’s a harsh truth for Paul and Livia and their learning journey will tug at the heartstrings.
ZAPPED
Dave, 9.40pm THIS original comedy, starring Inbetweener James Buckley, continues as Brian decides that he wants to make some new friends. He heads to a trendy and exclusive new bar that’s opened by Munty docks. But will his clip-on tie impress the doorman enough to get in?
This slightly eccentric sitcom boasts a great cast, with Sharon Rooney as the useless soothsayer Barbara and Paul Kaye as dodgy emporium owner Howell.
