-

WHITLEY Bay Arrows lost 8-1 to Kingston Sharks in an English Under-11 North League encounter at Hillheads.

The opening period was a very keenly-contested affair, both sides playing open attacking hockey but with no goals to show for their endeavours.

Orson Groot in the Arrows’ goal denied Kingston the lead.

The Arrows were on the powerplay early in the second period and took advantage as Max Torre gave the home side the lead at 17.37.

The lead lasted only five seconds as the visitors, on a very quick attack, restored parity.

Three minutes later Kingston went ahead and they then added three further goals in a fiveminute spell to hold a 5-1 advantage after two periods.

The visitors’ netminder made several good saves to keep Kingston ahead.

The Sharks added another three counters in the final period to complete their victory.

The Arrows are next in action on Saturday, November 4, when they go to Hull to face Kingston.
