Arms are in top form to defeat Demi

HITTING six without reply sent Consett Scotch Arms to the top of Division One on goal difference.

They made it four wins from four with a 6-0 triumph at Consett Demi, Andrew Rennoldson scoring three times and David Parker, Dan Walker and Gary Holliday once each.

Previous leaders Oxhill Central slipped to a second consecutiv­e defeat.

They were downed by a double from Consett Top Club’s Dan Parker.

Kieron Gohery hit a reply but it was a consolatio­n for Oxhill.

Two goals from Craig Suggett and one each from John Wood, Jamie Blanchard and Paul Wilkinson moved South Moor Sports off bottom spot, the strikes securing a 5-2 victory over Castleside Horse and Groom.

Lanchester Cricket Club are the new leaders of Division Two after their 4-1 victory at East Stanley Masons.

Stephen Smithson netted twice and Jack Newton and Jack Barron once each to secure the three points.

Dan Brown, Tony Stewart, Andy Barresford, Ryan Harrison, Nicky Gray, Aaron Mackay and Graeme Wood all notched in Burnopfiel­d Sun Inn’s 7-0 thrashing of Stanley RAFA.

Nathan Coates and Jamie Turnbull hit two each as Consett Snooker Club defeated Consett Station WMC 5-1.

Alex Simpson also struck, Connor Renwick for Station.

Annfield Plain Demi enjoyed bragging rights in their derby in Division Three with Annfield Plain Cricket Club.

With Kai Hewitson and Carl Greener both hitting hat-tricks, and Paul Oxley and Mark Longstaff also registerin­g, the Demi overcame their rivals 8-3 Michael Allan scoring two and Gary Kay one for the hosts.

They moved up to second behind High Handenhold Bird Inn, who continued their great run as a Jon Swift hat-trick helped them to a 4-2 success over Shotley Cricketers. Dan Dobson nabbed their other counter.

Consett Supa Snooker were held to a 4-4 draw with Chesterle-Street St Cuthbert’s - despite a Dean Bruce treble and a strike from Dan Lumley.
