Lev-Ell pegging as top two clash

TYNESIDE AMATEUR LG

-

THE top two sides at the beginning of Saturday met each other, as leaders Jesmond FC hosted second-placed Ellington.

The visitors took the lead in the first period, only for the home side to net twice and lead after the interval, but an Ellington leveller ensured the spoils were shared in a fair result.

Louis Tiplady and James Milner scored for Jesmond, with John Gall and Adam Bains on target for Ellington.

That result allowed Stobswood Welfare to leapfrog both sides and move to the head of the standings if they could beat Chemfica Amateurs. They did so by an emphatic 6-0 scoreline, having Jake Baker (2), Liam Armstrong, Phil Airey, Reece Wright and Jack Henderson on the scoresheet.

Haltwhistle Jubilee won by the same scoreline against Morpeth Town Seniors.

A brace from Jack Barker and a David Tremble header had Jubes 3-0 up within the first 12 minutes, with David Hall and Kieran Robley scoring after the break alongside Barker completing his hat-trick.

Forest Hall YPC are now just three points off the top after a 2-1 win at Newcastle Medicals.

Callum Ritson and Jonny Irvine were their marksmen in their victory, with James Hopkinson scoring for Medicals.

Killingworth YPC Cobras are moving towards mid-table after a 4-2 win over Wideopen & District A.

Abdul Abeid scored twice for Killy along with Damian McMenzie and Connor Robson. Jay Gill and Stu Herron countered for Wideopen.
