Stage is set to launch a bid for help

TODAY WE TALK TO DRAGON TALE THEATRE GROUP

-

What will you do with this year’s Wish money?

Any grant this year will be spent on, or go towards, the purchase of radio headset mics to be used by offstage participants, such as those involved in stage management, sound and lighting.

This would allow these groups to communicate more effectively during performances.

Tell us about your group.

Dragon Tale Theatre Group was founded in February 2001. Its prime purpose is to perform an annual pantomime during October half-term week, but it also performs songs from the shows at community homes and at summer fairs. There are currently 72 members, 12 children and 60 adults.

What kind of activities take place at your group?

So many activities take place - from drama, singing and dancing through to lighting, stage management and costume provision.

Who is the longest serving member of your group?

A number of us have been in since the group started in February 2001. It would not be possible to single one person out.

Tell us about the biggest or best activity or event your group has organised.

It’s hard to say any one thing when every event could qualify. But one might be the way the group adapted to a sudden change of venue weeks before the 2016 pantomime. Everyone pulled together and the general feedback was that standards were not compromised.

What is your group’s proudest moment to date?

Receiving the community section first prize in the Pride in Northumberland competition in 2012.

Why should someone join your group?

The development of stage and associated skills in a warm and friendly atmosphere - but one which also complies with all safeguarding requirements.

What makes you proud to be from the North East using five words?

Beautiful place, very warm people.
