NEWCASTLE University regained top spot – postponeme­nts elsewhere being coupled with their emphatic 6-2 home win over lowly Percy Main Amateurs.

The hosts took the lead in the first minute through Tom Woodier before Niza Chilofya doubled the advantage five minutes later.

Woodier made it three midway through the first half.

Joe Rowan pulled one back minutes into the second period before Keith Douglas restored the threegoal advantage six minutes later.

Fifteen minutes from time Ben Senior pulled another back for 4-2 – but Chilofya added a late double to complete his hat-trick and seal the points.

At Ponteland, the top-ten clash with visiting Ashington Colliers ended with the spoils shared.

The first half belonged to the visitors, who led through Paul Dunn on 13 minutes. Connor Andrews doubled the advantage on the half-hour before a red card blow for Colliers.

Dillon Howourth then bagged a late double, pulling one back on the stroke of half-time and then levelling from the penalty spot in the last minute.

Five goals were scored in Carlisle as Northbank lost 4-1 at home to mid-table Wallington.

The hosts led in the 12th minute through Josh Morley.

Jordan Nellis equalised after half an hour before the second period belonged to Wallington – Thomas Truscott nabbing a nine-minute hattrick with strikes on 63, 66 and 72 minutes to seal the points for the delighted visitors.
