Pilgrimages for region’s children
TODAY WE TALK TO HCPT GROUP 41
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH THIS YEAR’S WISH MONEY?
All money raised will be spent on the children’s sponsorship costs, which consist of the children’s travel and accommodation costs to Lourdes.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR GROUP.
HCPT Group 41 is a charity offering Easter pilgrimage holidays to Lourdes in southern France, for disabled and disadvantaged children from the Newcastle and Gateshead area.
The children are accompanied by volunteer helpers, nurses and doctors who pay their own travel and accommodation costs.
We are a Catholic charity and its services are open to all. Children and volunteers come from all walks of life, from all faiths and none.
WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES TAKE PLACE AT YOUR GROUP?
Trips to the zoo, mountains, games and laughter.
WHO IS THE LONGEST SERVING MEMBER OF YOUR GROUP?
HCPT’s holidays have been running since 1956. The core of the volunteer helpers, nurses and doctors have been involved for in excess of 17 years.
WHAT IS YOUR GROUP’S PROUDEST MOMENT TO DATE?
It is always a humbling experience for us to see these children having a great time with a smile on their faces despite the challenges they have to cope with in their everyday lives.
WHY SHOULD SOMEONE JOIN YOUR GROUP?
Whether you donate to us, help with fundraising, or travel with us you would make a real difference to the children participating on the Easter pilgrimage.
WHAT MAKES YOU PROUD TO BE FROM THE NORTH-EAST USING FIVE WORDS?
Warmth and generosity of folk.
