Traffic & travel update

BY CAR: The A189 Killingworth Road is closed between West Farm Avenue and A191 Benton Park Road. One lane is closed due to roadworks on A184 Felling Bypass in both directions between Heworth Roundabout and White Mare Pool Roundabout.

There are narrow lanes and speed restrictions of 30mph due to long-term roadworks on the A19 and A1058 at the Silverlink roundabout. In Wallsend, there are roadworks and temporary traffic lights on A187 Hadrian Road at A193 Wagon Way/Davy Bank until January.

BY BUS: Go North East services X9 and X10 will not serve Testo’s roundabout towards Newcastle for the duration of the Felling Bypass roadworks. Some journeys on the 35A won’t operate to Heworth Interchange. These are: Monday to Friday journeys at 7.57am and 5.23pm from Boldon Cinema to Heworth, which now terminate at Boldon Cinema, and Monday to Friday journeys at 8.20am and 5.42pm from Heworth, which now commence from Boldon Cinema.

Bus stops on Cherry Blossom Way and Nissan Way in Barmston, are out of use. The early morning 56 and 56A are diverted from Washington Road via Spire Road, turning at McDonalds roundabout and resuming normal route on Spire Road.

Station Lane, Birtley, is closed at the railway bridge for emergency gas works. The 28 & 28A are diverted between Birtley Front Street and Pelton via A167, Barley Mow and Blind Lane roundabout.

BY METRO: NO planned works until Christmas.

BY TRAIN: NO planned changes.
