TyneMet’s show leaves Chater in seventh heaven
TYNEMET convincingly won a league/cup double-header to go into the quarters of the ECFA Premier Cup - and move up in to second in the ECFA Premier League.
The North Tynesiders dominated possession early on, Katie Barker unlucky not to score - hitting the bar and having a shot tipped around the post.
It was not long before the pressure from the home side paid off, Barker being dragged down in the box and then blasting the resulting penalty home.
The second goal came from great play as TyneMet switched play from right to left, finding Kacie Elson unmarked as she slotted it home.
At this point TyneMet were looking comfortable, controlling the game and not allowing Balby Carr any opportunity to create chances.
Annece Legg then got on the scoresheet, picking the ball up 20 yards out and firing it home with the aid of a deflection. Shelly Brogden added a fourth before half-time, notching directly from a corner.
The second period started scrappily as Balby Carr looked to get back in to the game.
Their additional pressure left space in behind as Barker latched on to a through ball, rounding the goalkeeper for her second goal of the game.
TyneMet were then awarded their second penalty, Kira Whittle slotting home for her first goal of the season.
The game was rounded off with Courtney Dack’s finish.
