TODAY WE TALK TO 2ND KILLINGWORTH GUIDES

-

What will you do with this year’s Wish money?

With any Wish funds raised this year we want to take the Guides camping next year to an international camp in the UK. For this we would need to buy tents. The benefit would be that we’d be able to go camping and meet Guides from around the world. At camp we’d also learn new skills and take part in new activities.

Tell us about your group.

We are a group of 34 guides aged between ten and 14 who meet weekly to take part in a variety of activities. We enjoy meeting new people, learning new skills and being part of a girl-only organisation. We love going on residentials so we can learn to become independent and create lifelong memories.

What kind of activities take place at your group?

There are a wide variety of activities that our members can get involved in – from crafts and outings to games and badge work.

Who is the longest serving member of your group?

That would be Joanne Hogg who has been a leader for 29 years.

Tell us about the biggest or best activity or event your group has organised.

There are many activities that we have organised over the years but I think that the most memorable would have to be tobogganing in Switzerland.

What is your group’s proudest moment to date?

Our proudest moment was taking a group of 14 Guides and leaders to Switzerland for 10 days in August this year.

Why should someone join your group?

Lots of reasons to join our group – our members have lots of fun and make new friends.

What makes you proud to be from the North-east using five words?

Friendship, caring, happiness, opportunities and location
