Walker Iss ideal man for the job

-

ISSTOORA won first time up for Archie Watson last time out and has sound claims of following up in the Betway Amateur Riders’ Handicap at Wolverhampton.

She was gradually improving with racing for Marco Botti before heading to the sales and Watson may have picked up a bargain.

While there was not much strength to the race that she won last time, the right horse followed her home suggesting the form can be trusted.

However, perhaps the biggest weapon in her armoury this time is the fact she is to be ridden by crack amateur Simon Walker, undoubtedly the best in the business.

Her handicap mark did not move after her maiden win so there may be a bit of scope for improvement.

Deviate can defy top weight in the 32Red Casino Nursery Handicap for Tom Dascombe.

She may be winless since her second start but there is no suggestion her form is tailing off.

While she may have only been fourth of five runners last time out, she was not beaten miles and the handicapper has finally relented by chopping 2lb off, having seemingly had her in his grasp.

Of late she has been ridden very positively so more patient tactics might suit this time.

Fixe Le Cap has only been outside of the first two once since joining Nicky Henderson and that was at the Cheltenham Festival.

He missed most of last season but was good enough to finish second in the Imperial Cup when he eventually reappeared in March and then went to France where he won a Listed race.

Now sent over the bigger obstacles, he could be very smart and will take all the beating in the Happy Birthday Chris Kinane Novices’ Chase at Plumpton.

Rose Dobbin has enjoyed a really good first half of the season and Some Reign has the potential to be competing in some big races towards the end of the campaign.

He landed a proper touch on his debut in a bumper at Wetherby last year and ended up running at Aintree.

Beaten first time out over timber at Kelso by the smart Beyond The Clouds, he made no mistake on his return there.

Stepping up in trip should see even more improvement in the EBF “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle at Musselburgh.

Hurricane Rita can give Ffos Las racegoers immediate dividends by winning the conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle over two and a half miles.

The seven-year-old mare, trained by Olly Murphy, made an encouraging first start for new connections at Towcester last month when second to Cosmic Diamond.

That was her first outing since March so she is likely to be a great deal fitter for this assignment.
