TREAT FOR YOUNGSTERS IN HOSPITAL FOR CHRISTMAS

“He is doing really well now but we don’t know when we’ll be able to go home. I’m just thankful the doctor picked it up because it could have been fatal.”

Little Charlie is now recovering in the children’s heart unit at The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.

On Wednesday, he was one of around half a dozen youngsters who were visited by cast members of Peter Pan – The High Flying Pantomime Adventure.

The crew, who are performing at Newcastle’s Theatre Royal, spent some time with the poorly children and their families and posed for photograph­s.

They also brought along Father Christmas who delivered presents to the youngsters on ward 23.

Nikki, 29, said: “They’re all brilliant and we had the Newcastle United players come by too, who were really lovely people. They were so nice and it really cheers everyone up. It gives us a break from the doom and gloom when your baby is in hospital. All the staff at the hospital have been great too and we feel really safe in their hands.” THREE men have appeared in court accused of robbing a woman in her home in Blyth.

Jamie Bostock, Jamie Smith and Dane Richardson are alleged to have barged into the woman’s house at around 10.45pm and stolen £35 cash.

She was not injured during the suspected robbery on December 13, prosecutor­s said.

The three men appeared between two separate hearings at South East Northumber­land Magistrate­s’ Court on Friday and Monday. No pleas were taken and the case was sent to crown court.

As well as the robbery charge on the woman, Bostock, of Easton Homes, Bedlington, and Richardson, of Shelley Crescent, Blyth, also faced further joint allegation­s of three shop thefts and an attempted assault.

Bostock is also charged with robbing Chrisholm Bookmakers, burgling McDonald’s and stealing a cash till draw and burgling Chisholm Bookmakers and stealing a coin tray, all in Blyth, on December 13.

Smith, of Brierley Road, Blyth, Richardson and Bostock were all remanded in custody to next appear at Newcastle Crown Court on January 15.
