A TREBLE from Ryan McPherson guided Consett Cricketers Ex-Juniors into the next round of the Durham FA North West Durham Cup.

Scott Thompson also registered as the Cricketers defeated Witton Gilbert WMC 4-0.

Consett Top Club, though, went down 6-3 at Gateshead Leam Lane WMC.

In the only game to go ahead in the Consett and District Sunday League, Stanley Ball Alley jumped into the top half of the Division Two table.

With Callam Allaker scoring four, Mark Longstaff two and Cain Peart one, they defeated Stanley RAFA 7-1 to move up two places to fifth.

Lewis Carr netted for RAFA, who are still seeking their first point of the season.

North West Durham Cup ties still to be played will take place on January 14, the next round scheduled for January 21.

THERE was only one game played involving a Gateshead League side on Sunday - and that was in the first round of the North West Durham Cup.

Leam Lane WMC fell behind to an early goal from Consett Top Club but hit back to run out 6-3 winners.

Joe Mole and Tony Falconer both netted twice, Jonny Hirst and Ashington Sporting Club (grey and black) took on Blyth High Street in the Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League. PIctures: STEVE MILLER Connor Halpin also finding the net.

ONLY one match was played in the North East Sunday League.

Liam Thear, Kevin Thear and Chas Collins all notched for Greenside in their 3-0 victory against Westfield Social.

EAST Chevington will have to wait until the New Year to play their NFA Minor Cup tie against Blakelaw Towers.

In the Blyth and Wansbeck Sunday League’s Premier Division, Bedlington Social Club United’s game at home against the Whitehouse was one of the few fixtures played.

The Bedlington side prevailed 2-0 thanks to goals from Joe Moscrop and Josh Laverick.
