STANLEY BRASS BAND ENTERTAINMENT CONTEST

-

What will you do with this year’s Wish money?

We would use any money raised through the Wish fund this year to help to fund professional tutors.

We intend to have workshops to further the musicians’ knowledge.

It would mean so much as the future band personnel are focussed on bringing the younger players up to a higher standard of playing.

Professional tutors are needed for this. Tell us about your group.

It was formed in 2014 and run by a small committee of five members.

The idea was to provide a brass band contest which encouraged brass bands - especially youth and school bands - to come to the North-east and compete in an entertaining style. What kind of activities take place at your group?

There are lots of activities that take place in out group but in the main it’s brass band music. Who is the longest serving member of your group?

John Dodds has been involved for four and a half years. Tell us about the biggest or best activity or event your group has organised.

The biggest activity was when we had to move to a bigger venue to accommodate the bands who take part. What is your group’s proudest moment to date?

There are many proud moment as part of our group.

But one that stands out is that we have youth and school bands competing and winning prizes. Why should someone join your group?

People joining our group would be very welcome to help with the organisation of the event as it is expanding every year.

People may also become more involved in the brass band movement if they join. What makes you proud to be from the North East using five words?
