The time has come to sell me – Mitrovic
ALEKSANDAR Mitrovic has told Newcastle United that he wants to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Mitrovic – speaking to the publication Zurnal – says he has given up hope of earning a firstteam berth and wants to leave the Magpies for pastures new.
After being overlooked in recent weeks, Mitrovic said: “I have persistently waited for the chance over the past months and I do not welcome it.
“I’m sorry. After all, I loved Newcastle, but it’s time for me to look more myself, to find the best solution for my career. I tried to be honest with myself and my teammates at every training (session) and in matches.
“And the fact that I did not get a chance is simply not up to me.
“Everyone knows that I was left unintentionally in the background.”
Newcastle have already knocked back loan offers from Partizan Belgrade and Anderlecht and the Magpies want a cash fee for the player.
Mitrovic, though, said he is fit and raring to go for a new team and went on: “I never felt better. I’m physically in flawless form. I cannot wait to play.
“The most important thing is to find a club and finally get a chance in the field.”
But he admits that there are no offers on the table for him at the moment.
He said: “No, for now. There is no concrete offer.”
And while the player has accepted he won’t be going back to Anderlecht he was not so willing to shut the door on a move to Partizan.
He said: “I think my arrival would be an expensive investment for Partizan. That’s the situation now but you never know.”
