Bolton loan deal may be up for United striker Armstrong

-

NEWCASTLE United striker Adam Armstrong (pictured left) could leave Bolton Wanderers during the January transfer window. The Academy product’s loan deal will expire at the start of 2018, but he is unlikely to be recalled to the first-team squad at Newcastle. Instead, the player is keen to move to another club on loan for the second half of the season after his move to Bolton hasn’t worked out the way he wanted.

Armstrong, who will be 21 in February, has played 22 games for the Trotters but has been shunted to the left-wing and netted just three goals.

The Chronicle understands that Armstrong could even be loaned to a League One side during January with Blackburn Rovers one of the clubs interested in taking him until the end of the campaign.

However, a proviso for any loan move for Armstrong is that he not only plays regular football, but is also fielded in his correct position.

Bolton still owe Newcastle a loan fee for Armstrong’s services but the England youth international is keen to get back on the goal trail. Rafa Benitez simply wants Armstrong – like all loaned out players – to report back to him next summer with plenty of experience in the bank.

When asked about his future this month, Armstrong said: “Nobody knows what the future holds or what might happen in January but all I can do is keep kicking on, working hard and giving my all for Bolton.”
