Bay fight back to claim points

BAY PLASTICS NORTHERN ALLIANCE LEAGUE

WHITLEY Bay came from behind to win 3-2 at Cumbrian hosts Northbank Carlisle in the Premier Division - while the spoils were shared between Percy Main and Gateshead A.

At Northbank, the Bay led through strikes from Kieron Blair and John Hayes either side of the half-hour.

The visitors pulled one back through Michael Bell two minutes before the interval, James Proctor levelling proceeding­s two minutes after the restart.

The winner arrived with six minutes remaining courtesy of Mackenzie Sharp.

Percy Main drew 2-2 with visitors Gateshead A,

The Main led early on through Johnny Storey before a brace either side of the break from Matty Halliday gave the visitors the lead.

With chances aplenty from both sides it would be the hosts who snatched a point as the game ticked towards the final 15 minutes, captain James Leggett converting a free-kick from Ronan Attwood.

The spoils were also shared in both the Division One and Division Two games which survived the weather.

Wallsend Boys Club drew with Forest Hall in the former and Whitburn against Seghill also finished level in the latter, both ending 2-2.

At Wallsend a brace from Darryl Basham was cancelled out by a pair from Dan Whitfield.

At Whitburn, the hosts claimed an early lead after five minutes through Calvin Oldham - but fans were made to wait until the final 20 minutes before they saw any more goals.

Alex Chapman levelled for Whitburn and Danny Vuong restored Seghill’s lead with ten minutes remaining,

However, the hosts were having none of it and grabbed a point courtesy of an own-goal in stoppage time.

The only cup match to go ahead saw Hazlerigg Victory edge home in the Northumber­land Minor Cup, the holders seeing off hosts North Shields Community Christians on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

Victory notched through substitute­s Ramsay and Soulsby.

ONLY one match survived the weather in the Sportsworl­d North Northumber­land League.

In a game switched to Wooler, the home club led at half- time through a Luke Strangeway­s strike.

Kyle Jeffrey extended the advantage in the second period before a Belford comeback enabled Ryan Lillico and Paul Wood net to draw the visitors level.

With the match in stoppage time, Strangeway­s nabbed his second to give Wooler the points.

ALL fixtures in the Tyneside Amateur League were postponed.
