CARLOS Carvalhal admits his side will be underdogs ahead of their long trip to St James’ Park tomorrow afternoon.

However, he has promised Newcastle United he will be telling his players to fight until the end.

The Portuguese manager has won twice at St James’ Park during his career and completed the double over the Magpies last season in the Sky Bet Championship as boss of Sheffield Wednesday.

When asked about the crunch encounter on Tyneside, Carvalhal said in his pre-match press conference: “It is a very important game.

“All of them are now. It will be a difficult because every game, not just in the Premier League, in England is very tough.

“We don’t play any easy games here. All of them are difficult.

“They (Newcastle) are a good side, with good players and they have good organisation. They have a good crowd which supports the team.

“We cannot be sure we will win but we have to be sure we will fight.

“We will go there trying to win but we must have respect for the quality they have.” Newcastle boss Benitez will be aiming to get one over on Carvalhal (inset above) after losing twice to his Sheffield Wednesday team last term.

The Swansea manager added: “They are favourites, sure.

“I was happy with our last three games against them though (as Sheff Wed boss).

“Different things will happen and there are different players.

“Let’s discuss a new game now with a different dynamic.

“We must be competitive and fight for the points.

“We will fight for three points, that is for sure. Playing against Rafa is special to us as we played United twice last season.

“We have all the information about the team and the players.

“We know their weak points and they will know ours. If we are stronger than them we will win.”
