BY CAR: The A189 Killingworth Road is closed due to major roadworks between West Farm Avenue and A191 Benton Park Road/ Freeman Road until July 20.

Roadworks on the A167 Durham Road at Cramer Street, in Gateshead, leading to lane closures, until February 2. Work on the Silverlink Roundabout has started up again. One lane is closed due to roadworks on the A184 Felling Bypass in both directions between Heworth Roundabout and White Mare Pool Roundabout until April 30. BY BUS: Go North East services 2 and 2A won’t be able to serve Vicarage Road, Cumberland Road, Lincoln Avenue, Miller Terrace or Blind Lane at Silksworth. Use bus stops at Vicarage Farm Estate, Silksworth Terrace or Tunstall Village Road.

Timber Beach Road, Sunderland, will be closed from today for about four weeks for work relating to the Northern Spire bridge across the Wear. A free shuttle service will run every 20 minutes Monday-Saturday between 7am and 7pm from B&Q on Trimdon Street via Queen Alexandra Bridge and Alexandra Avenue, turning round at Silverbriar (Bristol Street Motors). BY METRO: No trains will run between South Gosforth and Four Lane Ends in either direction on Saturday/Sunday to allow for completion of modernisation work. Replacement bus service, 900, will be calling at or close to all stations from South Gosforth to Four Lane Ends (the bus will turn at Regent Centre). BY TRAIN: Replacement bus services are running for Northern trains between Metrocentre and Newcastle due to engineering works until Sunday. There is an extended journey time of 15 minutes on Virgin Trains East Coast Northbound at Newcastle, also until Sunday.
