Joselu: We’re now thinking of next game

-

JOSELU played down talk of being a super sub against Swansea City by insisting he was simply doing his job for Newcastle United.

The Spaniard came off the bench to net an important equaliser for Newcastle and maintain a six-point gap between his side and rockbottom Swansea City.

Speaking after the game, he said: “I try to do my best every game.

“I try to help Newcastle United when I come on, that is my job.

“I have one chance and I score. It is one point and we are happy for that - but we must keep going. We need to win games.

“After being behind with 25 minutes left we needed to score.

“We took one point and we are now thinking of the next game.”

Joselu has now scored four important goals for the Magpies and is close to paying off his fee of £5million when you consider the big-money climate Newcastle currently find themselves in and how much staying up will be worth to them this season.

Joselu added: “For every striker it is important to score goals and for your team to take points.

“It is my first in 2018 but I want to score more to help the team and squad and help the team stay in the Premier League.”

Joselu, though, feels there are still other players capable of grabbing the goals for United, despite clear-cut chances being squandered before his introduction.

He said: “We have good players.

“We have good strikers and a good squad, you are nervous when you are on the bench.

“When you miss chances and concede goals you lose points.”
