Tribute act expected to Take Empire by storm

BARBARA HODGSON HAS NEWS OF A TRIBUTE ACT SET TO ‘RULE THE WORLD’ AT SUNDERLAND EMPIRE

-

FOR Take That fans, they’re the next best thing so there’s set to be lots of excitement at news that Sunderland is set to play host to Re-Take That and Robbie Live.

Tickets will go on sale to the public tomorrow for what’s billed as “Wonderland in Sunderland”, which will feature local talents in a line-up of tribute favourites.

Following Gary Barlow’s spring sellout gigs at Sunderland Empire, the theatre will be hosting Sunderland favourites Re-Take That for one night only in June.

And ‘Robbie’ will be adding to the night with some of the star’s solo charttoppers.

These will add to the mix in a show which promises to capture the celebratory atmosphere of a real Take That concert, featuring hits ranging from favourites of the 90s to the megafamous band’s latest album Wonderland.

The concert, being brought to the local stage by Sunderland-based Entertainment Company i-stage, is set to prove an extra-spenight cial because Re-Take That hail from Sunderland.

They have been called “the most authentic tribute to one of the biggest British pop acts in history” and are themselves celebrating 10 years in the business, with their own fans said to include Take That’s Jason Orange himself. Paul Waite, who plays Gary Barlow, said: “Every night we perform we give it 100% but there will be something particularly special about standing on that stage at the Sunderland Empire. “We are honoured and so excited; we will be giving it all we have and more.” He is promising a “show to remember” as well as a few extra surprises on the night. And the night in question will be June 14. Tickets were available to ATG Theatre Card holders from Wednesday and they go on sale to the general public at 10am tomorrow. Visit the theatre box office in High Street West or call 0844 871 3022 (fees and charges apply).
