GARDEN CEREMONY PLANNED FOLLOWING TRAGEDY

ANYONE wanting to celebrate the life of travel agent Cassie Hayes is invited to a special ceremony at Alnwick Garden after her funeral tomorrow.

Cassie, 28, died after being injured during her shift at a Southport Tui travel agency branch on Saturday, January 13.

The former Duchess Community High School Pupil will be buried tomorrow in her home town, Alnwick.

Only close friends and family are asked to attend her funeral, but the public are invited to remember the beloved mum at special ceremony to be held at the Pavilion, in Alnwick Garden, from noon.

Anyone attending is encouraged to wear a yellow item of clothing or accessory in Cassie’s memory.

A notice in The Journal’s family announcement page says: “While Cassie is being laid to rest in private with her close family and friends, could we please ask those who would like to join us to celebrate Cassie’s life to follow on to the Pavilion at the Alnwick Garden, where a service for Cassie will take place.”

The notice adds: “Thank you to everyone who has supported us as a family through this very sad time. Cassie, you were, and still are, so, so loved.”

Cassie – whose dad Michael died when she was just a teenager – moved from Northumberland to Merseyside a decade years ago. Cassie had a young daughter, Ruby, whom she raised with her former partner Leah McDonald.

In tribute to Cassie, Leah wrote: “She’s just a gem, my best mate. Even when we split she was there for me...this girl has been my rock and the most amazing mammy.”

A fundraising page set up by Cassie’s travel industry colleagues has raised more than £7,300. The money will be given to her family. You can donate to it at www.gofundme.com/ cassie-hayes.

Andrew Burke, 30, of Vincent Street, St Helens, has been charged with murdering Cassie and possessing an offensive weapon. He has been remanded in custody ahead of a trial.
