Not banking on a digital revolution

-

I DO not consider myself either too elderly or a Luddite at 71 years of age but I certainly do not want to bank online.

Banks can’t, on the one hand, issue endless warnings about cyber crime and expect someone like me to willingly keep everything floating on a vulnerable wave to be swept away by the press of a button, never to be seen again!

I am sorry, but I simply, after paying all my taxes and National Insurance over 50 years of employment in this country, do not trust the online world.

A local branch, and the lovely OH that sweet morning song of the blackbird at dawn, is a pleasure so simple and true. Oh the sheen of gold buttercups kissed by the sun, as the cotton-wool clouds cross skies blue. Oh the tick tock tick tock of those dandelion clocks, why oh why can’t the time just stand still. Oh to see bright striped bumblebees feed from the stocks, heavy ladened once they’ve had their fill. Oh the soft soothing lilt of the lark high above, transports me back in time, I’m a child. Oh so drawn from the path to the girls and boys who are there to face up to, and my cheque and cash regime, are there because all of us so-called ‘oldies’ need and understand them.

We have debit and credit cards which we do, and will, continue to use in the presence of bank staff and have a friendly face-to-face chat. places I love. free where all my surroundings are wild. Oh the ocean like sway of the sheaths of gold corn, mesmerise as they to and they fro. Oh the prettiest pink chinks that crawls up the dawn, also sulks to the dusk when she goes. Oh a summer in my England, where I’ve been bred and born there is nothing that comes close for me. Oh birds, bees, flowers all,and sanguine dusks and dawns, there’s nowhere on Earth I’d rather be. JAMES BRIDGEWOOD Wallsend

It’s so easy and welcoming to us all and we are concerned about losing this relationship.

Please do not treat us as robots. It may be the way in certain areas but certainly not when looking after hardearned money. TREVOR UREN
