Met’s squad dominant in road victory

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

-

TYNEMET’S under-17 side secured their first league away win of the season with a dominant 3-0 success at Middlesborough College.

The visitors started the better and never looked back.

Dylan Taylor, a thorn in the home side all game, almost got the Tynesiders off to the perfect start after just five minutes.

He dispossessed his full back and drove at goal - but his shot was blocked by the Middlesbrough goalkeeper.

Boro then threatened and it was down to TyneMet’s French goalkeeper Loic Montoro to keep the scores level with a fine save.

TyneMet then turned the screw and Joe Kelly’s quick feet and skill took him past his man.

He fed Paul Van Zandvliet and his powerful low shot found the bottom corner.

The flowing football continued as Kyle Simpson went close after a good run and Kelly blasted over when well-placed.

TyneMet started the second half in the same way they had finished the first, playing fast, quick attacking football.

Five minutes in, the second goal arrived.

Ben Gaffney’s clever pass played in Dylan Taylor on the left.

Taylor beat two men before firing a shot in from the edge of the 18 which was brilliantly saved - but the goalkeeper could do nothing to keep out Kyle Simpson’s follow-up.

A Short effort was tipped wide and Van Zandvliet’s header cleared the crossbar as TyneMet continued to dominate.

The killer goal arrived midway through the second half and it owed much to the skill and composure of Kelly, who danced his way through two Boro challenges before drawing the goalkeeper in and cleverly dinking the ball over him.

TyneMet did not let up and could have scored more goals, Connor Terry drawing a good save from the Boro shotstopper and Lewis Mishner having an effort as the visitors ran out comfortable winners.
