Title hopefuls Morpeth and Shields beaten

DIVISION One front-runners Morpeth Town and North Shields were both beaten.

Nathan Fisher and Danny Parker were on the scoresheet as West Auckland Town inflicted Morpeth’s second league defeat of the season with a 3-2 victory at the Wanted Stadium.

A Mason McNeill hat-trick helped Guisboroug­h Town to a 3-2 win at North Shields.

Consett moved level on points with second-placed Shields after Michael Sweet netted twice in their 4-1 verdict at Ashington.

Newton Aycliffe took the derby honours with a 2-1 win over Shildon and Paul Brayson (pictured below) claimed all three of Newcastle Benfield’s strikes in their 3-1 home success against Washington.

Kyle Patton grabbed the only goal of the game as Whitley Bay left Sunderland RCA with all three points and Seaham Red Star drew 2-2 with Ryhope CW.

Dunston UTS moved into the top ten as strikes from Mark Fitzpatric­k, Liam Thear and Dale Burrell helped them to a 3-2 result at Billingham Synthonia.

Bottom-of-the-table Alnwick Town held Division Two leaders Northaller­ton Town to a 6-6 draw at the Calvert Stadium.

The Wick led 3-1 and 5-3 courtesy of braces from Robert Baker and Phillip Bright.

However, late efforts from Colin Anderson and Stephen Jackson earned Allerton a point – coupled with Aaron Ramsbottom’s double.

Michael Chilton hit a hat-trick as Blyth AFC moved three points behind first place by also hitting six counters to dispose of Crook Town.

Andrew Brown’s 50th-minute header allowed Whickham to stay joint second with a 2-1 win against Bedlington Terriers.

Hebburn Town kept tabs on the top three with a 2-0 victory over Brandon United courtesy of Craig Malley and an own goal.

Heaton Stanningto­n sit a point behind Tow Law in fifth after the Stan scored an 86th-minute winner to account for Easington Colliery 3-2.
