Traffic & travel update

BY CAR:

The A189 Killingworth Road is closed for roadworks between West Farm Avenue and A191 Benton Park Road/Freeman Road until July 20.

There are narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 30mph for long-term roadworks on the A19 at A1058 Coast Road/Silverlink roundabout until March 1, 2019.

The A184 Felling Bypass either side of Heworth roundabout has been reduced to a single lane due to major roadworks expected to last for six months. Shields Road either side of the Heworth roundabout is closed and will not reopen to traffic except buses until after the repair work is finished in the summer.

There are temporary lights for resurfacing work on the A689 at The Lake House, until February 8.

Temporary traffic lights outside the Fire Station on Durham Road in Birtley between 9am and 3.30pm until Friday. During these times, services heading north will not stop at the Fire Station bus stop, with a temporary stop further north. BY BUS:

Timber Beach Road, Sunderland, is closed until mid-February for work on the Northern Spire bridge. A free shuttle service will run every 20 minutes Mon-Sat, 7am and 7pm, from B&Q on Trimdon Street via Queen Alexandra Bridge and Alexandra Avenue.

Services Q1 and Q2 will be unable to stop on Mill Road, Gateshead due to works from Monday to February 16. Use stops at Gateshead College or Baltic. BY METRO:
