- By MARK CARRUTHERS

THE top three were all beaten on a remarkable day of results in Division One.

Leaders Morpeth Town were beaten at Newton Aycliffe as Thibault Charmey marked his Aycliffe debut with a brace to help them to a 2-1 victory.

Morpeth ended the game with nine men after Liam Henderson and Stephen Forster were shown red cards.

Nathan Fisher hit a hat-trick as West Auckland Town thumped second-placed Consett.

Arran Wearmouth and Michael McKeown were also on the scoresheet in a 5-1 win for West.

North Shields’ inconsistent form continued as Colin Larkin’s brace helped Sunderland RCA to a 4-2 success over the Robins.

That defeat allowed Marske United to move into third after a Peter Bulmer strike gave them a 1-0 verdict over Shildon.

Damien Stevens was Ashington’s hero as his hat-trick helped them to a 3-2 result against Whitley Bay and Robbie Spence scored twice as Team Northumbria continued their good form with a 3-1 win at Seaham Red Star.

Jarrow Roofing and Dunston UTS shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

Anthony Myers gave the Roofers the lead on 51 minutes but Mark Fitzpatrick’s header ensured Dunston did not leave emptyhanded.

James Risborough netted twice as Stockton Town warmed up for their FA Vase quarter-final with a 4-2 victory against Penrith and Bishop Auckland eased their relegation worries with a 4-1 win at fellow strugglers Washington.

Thornaby moved up two places to fifth in Division Two after a 5-1 demolition of West Allotment Celtic, who took a 46th-minute lead through John Watson.

Bradley Hird hit a hat-trick as Durham City also put five past visitors Crook Town.

Lee Crammond, Tyler Davis and Phil Hodges were among the goals as Ryton and Crawcrook Albion held off a late fightback to triumph 3-2 at Jarrow FC.

Darlington RA remain four points from safety with a 4-1 defeat at home to Easington Colliery.

The league’s second-bottom side never really recovered from Shaun Smith’s opener for the Colliers after just five minutes.

Smith doubled the advantage going into the interval and there were further goals for James Talbot and Jack Pounder.
