Chev’s defeat is extra agonising

EAST Chevington narrowly failed to reach the final of the NFA Sunday Minor Cup.

They went down 3-2 after extra time to Newcastle Daisy Hill.

Chevington went in front thanks to a goal from Max Anderson.

They were pegged back before Kevin Bell restored their advantage in the second half.

Daisy Hill again drew level with an own goal late on and won the game with a goal in the last few minutes of the added 30.

Newsham Victory reached the semi-final of the Eric Anderson Cup with a 3-1 success at Ellington Plough.

Jack Phillips scored for the Plough, Mark Ord, Daniel James and David Lillico for the Victory.

Bedlington Social Club won 6-1 at home against Cramlingto­n Green in the Premier Division.

Dylan William led the scoring with a double, further goals provided by Joe Bolam, Joe Moscrop, Josh Monaghan and Andrew Welsh with Michael Jordan netting for the Green.

Whitehouse Ashington and Blyth Town Sunday played out a 1-1 draw.

Both counters came in the first half.

Michael Freathy scored for the Whitehouse with a penalty, Martyn Hepple replying for Blyth Town.

Ashington RAOB triumphed 5-0 at home against Town Central.

The Buffs could have won by a bigger margin - but the woodwork and outstandin­g saves by Dean Farndale kept them at bay.

Brent Aisbitt hit a hat-trick for RAOB, Lee Scott with the other two.

Block and Tackle overcame Bedlington Sunday 4-3 in Division One.

Counters for the home side came from Jordan Watson (2), Bradley Higgins and David Brown.

On target for the Bedlington side were Richard Kennedy, Glen Reardon and Michael Greives.

High Street saw off visitors Bebside Inn 3-2.

Eion Ridley, Chris Laidlaw and Sean Craddock notched for the Street, for Bebside Robert Sharp and Brooklyn More.

Newbiggin New Ship prevailed 3-0 against Guidepost Shakespear­e Tavern thanks to Ross Burt, Mason Armstrong and Arron Goldsbury.
