TRAFFIC & TRAVEL UPDATE
BY CAR: The A189 Killingworth Road is closed for roadworks between West Farm Avenue and A191 Benton Park Road/ Freeman Road until July 20.
There are narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 30mph for long-term roadworks on the A19 at A1058 Coast Road/Silverlink roundabout until March 1 2019.
The A184 Felling Bypass either side of Heworth roundabout is down to a single lane due to roadworks. Shields Road either side of the Heworth roundabout is only open to buses.
BY BUS: The southbound bus lane on North Bridge Street near Monkwearmouth Bridge, Sunderland, is closed for highway works. Go North East and Stagecoach services, including routes 9, 18, 20, 20A, 23, 35, 35A, 36, 56, E1, E6, N56 and X20, will follow a diversion via Roker Avenue, Church Street North and Dame Dorothy Street.
Bus stops on Cherry Blossom Way and Nissan Way in Washington are out of use for road improvements. Routes 56 and 56A are diverted via Spire Road.
Queensway, Gosforth, will be closed for up to five days for sewer repairs. Arriva route 46 from Featherstone Grove will divert via Greenfield Road, missing Queensway. Journeys towards Featherstone Grove will not be affected. Buses will operate ‘hail and ride’ in this area, stopping where it is safe to do so.
BY METRO: No planned works.
BY TRAIN: Strike action is planned on Northern services on Saturday with disruption expected.
