Cowan is the hat-trick hero in Highlander’s five-star display

WINLATON Highlander returned to the top of Division One as they thumped bottom club Consett Demi 6-1.

Ryan Cowan hit a hat-trick and Jack Self, Peter Grugan and Simon Reed also registered, Keith Coulter replying for the Demi.

Consett Supa-Snooker occupy a top-two spot in Division Three as a Dean Bruce double secured a 2-0 victory at Shotley Cricketers.

Division Three side Annfield Plain Demi breezed into the next round of the North West Durham Charity Cup as they thumped Birtley RAOB 9-2.

Kai Hewitson found the net five times, Jack Watson scoring two and Paul Oxley and Jay McGough one each.

Division One side Consett Scotch Arms also hit nine as they defeated Annfield Plain Cricket Club 9-1 in the Jack Grigg Memorial Trophy.

Dan Walker hit a treble and David Parker, Adam Knowles and Andrew Whitfield doubles, Lewis Donnelly hitting a consolatio­n for Plain.

Matty Allison, Jon Davies, Scott McKinder and Joe Gill found net as Oxhill Central defeated Lanchester Cricket Club 4-2 in the Consett Charity Cup.

Liam Nichol and John Lawson notched for Lanchester.

Ryan McPherson and Shaun Skidmore produced the goals which secured a 2-0 victory for Consett Cricketers Ex-Juniors over Craghead Legion.

Tom Illingwort­h hit four as High Handenhold Bird Inn beat Consett Station WMC 8-1 in the Consett Aged Miners Charity Cup.

Jon Swift scored two and Marc Wood and Dan Dobson one apiece, Jack Wilkes on target for Station.

Two finishes from Mark Longstaff and one each from Lee Harvey and Ryan Armin enabled Stanley Ball Alley to defeat Stanley Imperial Hotel 4-2.

Liam Dixon scored for Hotel, who also registered through an own goal.

A brace from Paul Newton-Eddy and one from Marty Soulsby saw Winlaton Crown and Cannon edge out Consett Snooker Club 3-2.
