North squad seeking way Inter ESFA final
NORTHUMBERLAND Under-16 Girls are back in action next week when they take on Lancashire in the ESFA Inter-County Trophy semi-finals.
The game is on Thursday at Newcastle University (5.30) - but it has not yet been decided if it will be on the 3G pitch at the Longbenton Sports Ground or on the grass pitch at Cochrane Park.
North defeated holders Derbyshire 7-5 in the last round.
THE Newcastle Schools’ Under11 Duffy League hopes to resume next week with matches on Tuesday and Thursday.
The King Cup final for the four league winners has now been put back due to the postponement of league fixtures last week.
The girls’ Finals Night hopes to go ahead on Friday, when the top two from the West and East Leagues meet at Benfield School, with a 3.30 start.
Gosforth Juniors have already qualified for the finals and will start as hot favourites to triumph.
DURHAM Johnston School have reached the national final of the ESFA Under-14 PlayStation Schools’ Cup after beating St Ivo School (Huntingdon SFA) 3-1 in the last four.
As a consequence of this result, Durham Johnston prevented St Ivo from reaching their third consecutive final - they were winners in 2017 and runners-up in 2016.
In the final, Durham Johnston will play Blenheim High School (Kingston SFA).
ST Cuthbert’s Under-19s take on Heaton Manor in the semi-finals of the Newcastle City Journal Cup on Thursday (3.45). The winners will face holders Newcastle Royal Grammar School in the decider.
NEWCASTLE Catholic Primary Schools hold their under-nine fivea-side tournament on Wednesday at Soccerworld on Westgate Road (1.00).
St John Vianney have been champions for the past two seasons but will be pushed hard this year by English Martyr’s and Sacred Heart.
THE Under-11 City Knockout Cup final will be staged at the Newcstle United Academy on Monday, March 19 (4.00).
