Tomahawks are stung by Sutton loss

-

WHITLEY Tomahawks suffered a 7-2 home defeat to leaders Sutton Sting in English Under-15 North Division Two at Hillheads.

Sting were quickly out of the blocks and were ahead through Nathan Mead in the third minute.

They doubled their advantage in the tenth minute through Jacob Frost and increased their lead early in the middle period with Frost’s second of the game.

Within two minutes the hosts had pulled a goal back through Evan Dodds - only for the threegoal cushion to be restored three minutes later by Andras Kehl. Frost was soon to complete his hat-trick but Thomas Fraser (left) was on hand a short while later to reduce the score to 5-2 by the end of the second period.

The margin could have been smaller but for some good saves from the visiting netminder.

The Tomahawks were dealt a blow in the 34th minute when Matthew Wood was ejected from the game for a fighting penalty and from the five-minute powerplay Sutton added their sixth goal through Kehl.

Frost, with his fourth goal of the game, wrapped up the scoring with five minutes left.
