Traffic & travel update

BY CAR:

The A189 Killingworth Road is closed for roadworks between West Farm Avenue and A191 Benton Park Road/Freeman Road until July 20.

The A184 Felling Bypass either side of Heworth roundabout is down to a single lane due to roadworks. Shields Road either side of the Heworth roundabout is only open to buses.

There are narrow lanes and a speed restriction of 30mph for long-term roadworks on the A19 at A1058 Coast Road/Silverlink roundabout until March 1, 2019. BY BUS:

Temporary traffic lights will be on Union Hall Road in Newcastle while resurfacing work is undertaken. The work will be carried out between 9.30am and 3.30pm each day. Journeys on services 6, 7, 8, 10 and 39 may be delayed.

Bus stops on Cherry Blossom Way and Nissan Way in Washington are out of use for road improvements. Early morning routes 56 and 56A are diverted via Spire Road.

Durham Road, East Rainton near Houghton will be closed at North Street from 9.30am to 2.30pm today and Monday for resurfacing. Routes 20 and 20A towards Sunderland will avoid East Rainton. BY METRO:

There will be no trains between Haymarket Regent Centre and Haymarket - Four Lane Ends until 6pm on Sunday to allow for track and vegetation work. A replacement bus service will be running at or close to affected stations. BY TRAIN:

No planned works.
