Withdrawal of buses just not fare

-

REGARDING buses through Stannington Village “or not as the case may be”. It would appear they are to be withdrawn.

Both young and old rely on this service.

But there are solutions to this problem without any cost to Arriva.

1. Use smaller buses – no need for double deckers.

2. Use the services which pass Stannington every 15 minutes (no problem getting in or out).

3. Something dear to my heart is that if OAPs, myself included, were to pay 50p or even £1 per journey throughout Northumberland it would, I’m sure, make a difference to public transport in the county.

STANNINGTON RESIDENT seafront has been ignored and left to rot for well over 30 years – in fact I didn’t think I would live long enough to see it improved.

But wrong! Now everything is being thrown at it. Scaffolding, prom closures, traffic jams etc. However we are assured it will all be worth it. Apart from the Links, which even North Tyneside Council wouldn’t dare touch, every other blade of grass and derelict building is being built on. My favourite is at the end of Brook Street (site of the old Avenue pub).

On the site itself, huge piles of black gravel and a machine/ engine. This machine belches out black exhaust fumes.

Bearing in mind the site is 100 yards from a children’s play area and a school, I asked who had granted permission for these atrocities – was told “the client”. Who is the client? North Tyneside Council? MARGARET MARLEY,
