Fightback is A superb one for the Bay’s boys

WHITLEY Bay A came from behind to defeat Ponteland 2-1 in the Premier Division.
Reece Havelock-Brown opened the scoring on the half- hour.
However, goals either side of the break, from Alan Ewart on 40 minutes and Connor Campbell on 52 minutes, ensured the Bay took all three points.
Wallsend Community produced a first-half demolition job on visitors Forest Hall in Division One.
A brace from Jack Johnson was added to by finishes from Ethan Brown and Ross Thirlaway for a fourgoal lead.
After the restart Mark Milne managed to pull one back - but it was insufficient, Community holding on for a 4-1 win.
The top result of the day went to Hazlerigg Victory, who routed hosts Cramlington Town 15-1 with Martin Soulsby bagging himself a triple hattrick - three goals in the first half and six after the restart.
Richard Coulson also notched a treble of his own while Dean Gallagher (2) and Gavin Dick also found themselves on the scoresheet.
The home side’s reply arrived via Paul Middleton in the 67th minute by which time Town were already a dozen down.
In Division Two, Prudhoe Youth Club Seniors took over at the top after they defeated visitors Seghill 4-1. David Burns (2), Arron Fletcher and Matty Robinson, who also missed a penalty, scored, Seghill replying via an own goal late on.
There were nine counters in the top-five clash at Whitley Sporting Club, visitors Cramlington United triumphing 5-4.
Niall Younger gave United an early lead which John Wilson doubled a minute later, adding a second for himself early in the second half.
Luke Taylor notched twice for the visitors while David Adams netted one in each half for Sporting.
Liam Shanley and Ross Seaman made things interesting with further counters.
Of the three cup games scheduled one managed to go ahead as Newcastle University and Gateshead Rutherford clashed in the semis of the League Cup.
Olly Walden notched a goal in each half for the Students while Callum Horne, Tom Woodier and a last-minute strike from Joe Blanch completed the scoring, Dan Fullen replying in the second half for Rutherford.
THE top two could not be separated in the only Wearside League game to survive the wintry conditions.
Cleator Moor Celtic remain top of the table after their 0-0 home draw against Hebburn Town Reserves.
The Hornets are a point behind the Cumbrian side after a game of few chances.
