SUNDERLAND could receive a financial boost in the summer thanks to the form of Wahbi Khazri.

The talented winger is on loan at Rennes, where his form of late has caught the eye of many potential suitors.

Overall, Khazri has made 28 appearances, netting 11 and assisting three.

Recently, though, his form has excelled with three goals and an assist in his last five games.

He was even named in the respected Gazetta Dello Sport’s European Team of the Week after his performance against Bordeaux on Saturday.

L’Equipe claimed on Friday a number of teams are monitoring his situation closely and a bidding war in the summer could see him value increase to as much as €15m.

That would be a huge boost to the financially-stricken Black Cats although, as the French publication also points out, Sunderland’s desperation to sell – especially if they are relegated – could result in him being allowed to leave for as little as €4.5m.

The Wearsiders do have the boost of a World Cup this summer too, however.

If Khazri was to impress with Tunisia in Russia then there is every chance he could catch the eye of even more suitors and boost his value again still.

Asked about his future, the 27-year-old said: “Honestly, I really am not thinking about it.

“Even with my wife, we have not spoken about it at all. As long as I perform well, I know there will be things to discuss.

“Helping Rennes finish as high as possible is my priority.”
