TRIED & TESTED

We gave three foundations a go to find out which is ace for base

-

PS… My Perfect Colour Velvet Finish Foundation, £6, Primark

The range: A 16-shade collection, with a good mix of light to dark options. They’re all SPF30 and give a full, velvety coverage. The verdict: “The coverage is pretty nice, although I’d say it’s more matte than velvet. You might struggle if you have dry patches, but it didn’t sit in any of my fine lines. It’s probably geared more to younger skin, however, it’s a good foundation.”

L’Oréal Paris Infallible Longwear Shaping Stick Foundation, £8.99, Boots

The range: 12 shades (although mainly light tones) of creamy sticks, made for buildable coverage and a shine-free finish. The verdict: “I like the way this looks on – smooth and satiny. It’s also super-easy to apply – great on the go. But coverage is quite sheer (even though it feels quite heavy), so I needed extra concealer around my eyes.”

Perricone MD No Foundation Foundation Serum, £45, lookfantastic.com

The range: A lightweight formula made to give skin a dewy, luminous look, while improving texture instantly and over time. The verdict: “It feels like a day cream, but it has a good amount of pigment and the finish is lovely and dewy. The only downside is it feels a little sticky, and I couldn’t apply it with a brush as it clogged it. It’s a lot of money, but it does work.”
