WHITLEY Mohawks suffered a 6-4 home defeat to Sheffield Swampfrogs in English Under-13 North Division Two.

It was a very disappointing result for the Mohawks after they put in a determined effort against their fellow strugglers.

Sheffield came from behind in the final period to take the victory.

The Mohawks started well and took the lead in the second minute through Ashton Moffitt his first goal of the season and Scott Harwood with the assist.

Sheffield restored parity five minutes later thanks to Oliver Hope.

Back came the young Tynesiders and Harvey Starkie regained them the advantage at 09.08 as James Toby and Owen Yarrow picked up the assists.

Sheffield hit back in the 21st minute with a brace of goals from Ben Cutts only 27 seconds apart to take a 3-2 advantage.

Mohawks leveled at 21.57, Jayden White with his third of the season - Jonathan Dellow claiming the assist.

The home side ended the second period 4-3 ahead after leading scorer Owen Yarrow drove home his 17th goal of the season with under three minutes of the period remaining.

The visitors caught the Mohawks cold, however, at the start of the final period as Cutts netted his hat-trick marker.

He grabbed his fourth goal of the game five minutes later and the insurance goal for a 6-4 victory was scored at 40.35 through Lincoln Wake.

Deeside Dragons are next to take on the Mohawks at Hillheads on Sunday (12.30). ■■WHITLEY Arrows were beaten 7-2 at Bradford Bulldogs in an English Under-11 North League encounter.
