It’s game on for Matt

-

MATT LeBlanc is the best thing about this comedy, a glorious send up of life in Tinseltown, as he gamely plays himself as a self-obsessed, sex-obsessed ex-sitcom star.

The Friends actor, who was perhaps under-appreciated in his decade-long role as idiot Joey, even won a Golden Globe for his role in Episodes, which now finally returns for a fifth and final series.

We’ve been waiting nearly three years, but in Episodes time only several months have passed since the end of the last instalment.

After landing himself in massive debt, Matt was forced to take a job as a gameshow host. Now “The Box” is a runaway hit, but Matt is not happy as his years as an actor have been completely forgotten.

To add insult to injury, the reality show offers are rolling in. “Celebrity Wife Swap?” asks Matt’s agent. “It’s a good offer!”

Meanwhile, Sean and Beverly (Stephen Mangan and Tamsin Greig) have been forced to work for Sean’s loathsome ex-partner Tim on The Opposite Of Us.

“Comedies don’t have to be funny anymore,” rants Tim, as the couple watch him slowly destroy their show.

And ever since Carol (the brilliant Kathleen Rose Perkins) walked away from her job at the network, she has been spending her days getting stoned in her pyjamas and watching real estate shows. “I’m poison in this town,” she moans.

Watching tonight’s episode, we’re straight back into the politics and egos of Hollywood, and you’ll feel like it’s never been away.
