BEST OF THE REST

-

LEE AND DEAN Channel 4, 10pm

LEE and Dean are best mates who live together and work together as a couple of fairly useless builders in Stevenage.

Written by and starring Miles Chapman (Lee) and Mark O’Sullivan (Dean), the comedy is semi-improvised and filmed a bit like a fly-on-the-wall documentary, as the pair go about their daily lives.

Lee is the lad, who unbelievably seems to be a hit with the ladies and is enjoying ‘builder’s perks’ with posh client Mrs Bryce D’Souza (Anna Morris). Less lucky is Dean, who seems to worship Lee, and is always left in the shadows. In this first episode, their lifelong friendship is tested when Lee gets himself a girlfriend. Dean’s nose is put out when she moves into their flat and takes over organising Lee’s birthday party.

PILGRIMAGE: THE ROAD TO SANTIAGO BBC2, 9pm

“IT’S like a prison sentence. I’ve got that feeling of absolute dread.”

Gogglebox priest Kate Bottley has found the Camino de Santiago a struggle, to say the least. The thought of more walking looming ahead of her every day has been making her feel panicked and anxious. Meanwhile, entertainer Debbie McGee has been battling blisters, and half the group are forced to sleep outside to avoid actor Neil Morrissey and singer Heather Small’s snoring.

This is the final stretch, but it is a punishing push to the end and the destination still seems a long way off. Record high temperatures aren’t helping either.
