Blyth facing a hectic final fortnight after weather strikes again
BLYTH Spartans are facing six games in the final two weeks of the season following yet another postponement.
Last night’s home game against Southport was called off in the middle of the day following a pitch inspection.
The playing surface, heavy on Saturday during the defeat against Kidderminster Harriers, was again waterlogged.
It has been a nightmare two months on the weather front for Blyth - and when they have played results have gone against them.
Having to reschedule the Southport game has done their hopes of finishing in the play-offs no favours.
Manager Alun Armstrong told the Chronicle: “It has been a nightmare We have been unable to gain any fluency or momentum.
“Losing the last five games has not helped but we played well in defeat against Kidderminster.
“Three points against Southport would have set us up nicely for Saturday’s six-pointer at Chorley. Having to play four games in a week will be tough, especially for a parttime club, but we just have to keep going.
“It has all gone wrong after a good first two thirds of the season, which is frustrating and disappointing.”
Getting star striker Dan Maguire back for at least some of those games will be a boost for Blyth, whose last win was in mid-February.
