Personal touch for one lucky Sunday for Sammy fan

THE DVD OF THE POPULAR BIENNIAL SHOW HITS SHOPS THIS WEEKEND, WRITES BARBARA HODGSON

-

THE Sunday for Sammy DVD goes on sale this weekend and it will bring with it a golden opportunity for one lucky buyer.

One of the first run of DVDs set to hit the shelves in the North East will contain a Golden Ticket – and a oneoff prize.

The lucky winner will receive autographs of all the stars who took to the stage for Sunday for Sammy this year as well as tickets for the next show.

The prize promises a huge treat for fans of the every-other-year charity event – dubbed the Geordie Command Performance – which brought a host of celebrities, such as Brenda Blethyn and Johnny Vegas, to Metro Radio Arena in February.

Besides the Vera actress and comedy star, who shared in a comedy detective sketch, surprise guests included DCI Banks actor Stephen Tompkinson; South Shields favourite Joe McElderry; Streets of London singer Ralph McTell and music legend Trevor Horn who sang Video Killed The Radio Star.

During the show, the cast autographed a logo board as a memento for Sunday for Sammy’s debut at the Arena, having moved from the City Hall – its home in previous years.

A fundraiser in support of upcoming local performers, and seen as a celebration of North East culture, it is always recorded and the subsequent release of the DVD is eagerly awaited.

And this time fans have extra reason to snap up a copy when the 2018 edition goes on sale this weekend.

The Golden Ticket will be in one DVD among the first run of 3,000 copies and whoever finds it when they open up the DVD will win the signed logo board as well as two tickets for the next Sunday for Sammy show in 2020.

The DVD will be available at JG Windows in Newcastle; intu Metrocentre in Gateshead and also in Darlington.

Also this weekend, there will be a chance for Sunday for Sammy fans to get up close and personal with the stage show action.

To celebrate the release of the DVD, there will be a premiere of it at The Exchange in North Shields on Sunday at 2pm.

Tickets for this cost £20 which also includes a copy of the DVD.

They are available from www.sundayforsammy.org; from Julie Clay on 0191 2531 618 or from The Exchange website.
