Time on Tyneside – but insists he enjoyed life in black and white

-

Although, with Newcastle set to look for another striker in the summer window, it is difficult to see how Mitrovic has a future under Rafa Benitez.

Mitrovic has spoken about “faith, trust and game-time” under new manager Slavisa Jokanovic.

He added: “That is important if you are a striker.

“I could tell that he felt confidence in me.

“If you really feel trust from the manager it is much easier to play.

“That is what I feel now. I know he believes in me and I know what he wants from me.

“My job is to do that and do it well. I hope I will continue like this.”

However, he did admit he has been working hard on his discipline and attempts to snuff out making mistakes.

Mitrovic went on: “That is my way. “That is how I have played all my life. It is how I see football.

“I am a winner and I will try to do everything to win the game.

“I made illy mistakes but I have tried to learn from my mistakes.

“It is not always possible to channel the anger in the right way but I try to stay focused on the team and to do my job.

“That is to stay on the pitch and to score goals, to assist, to create space.

“I need my passion but I have to control it.

“I try to use it on the goal and on the team.”

With Fulham in second place in the Championship there is every chance the love affair with Mitrovic and fans of the Cottagers continues.

He added: “I am 100 per cent focused on Fulham and the upcoming games.

“I hope we are promoted, then I will have the World Cup, then I will need to rest a little bit, then we will see what happens.

“However, I am 100 per cent with my head here.

“I want to give back to Fulham because they gave me the chance to come here, play games and be part of this beautiful club.

“I will do everything I can to help the team be promoted.”
