No repeat of Vaux site hopefully

-

IT would be remiss of me to say I was amused at Sunderland’s derelict land which was once the old Vaux brewery site and is an issue which has gone on for over 19 years.

The Ashington problem is still under two years old so I pray it does not replicate that of Sunderland.

At the Northumberland County Hall site, it was decided by the ruling Labour Party that the old site at Morpeth was not fit for purpose and it was going to be more expensive to modernise the old site than build a completely new building at Ashington.

It was confirmed the exercise had been independently audited but this was never put in the public domain.

On a humorous note, I would mention what Grant Davey the leader of the Labour council said at the time, which was that the people of Ashington would not need to travel to Morpeth to pay their bills - perhaps not realising that the people of Morpeth might need to travel to Ashington.

PETER CURTIS, Ashington IS it madness or love? Is it both the above? Are we madly in love or just lovely, but mad? Either way...I’m glad, To be part of a town...with a Heart so renowned for the Love that it shows to its club even though .... We get no cups and dragged round with, short ups and bad downs, we spend all our wages on home games, away days, on constant strip changes and early Cup stages...for what? The emotional ride .... have Mike Ashley’s pockets got potion inside? Cause when they’re a mess getting bad press and laughed at … he still gets his 52,000 to the rafters. It’s almost as if we’re all gluttons for punishment, But Toon fans just feed off the game it’s our nourishment! See all that we want is the Mags to be flourishing, we long for the day that our dream sees fruition, Maybe for many more years we’ll be wishing... That Newcastle’s home to that top slot position! But even if it takes a hundred long years, we’ll still be there sailing our songs on the air, shouting and screaming and jumping like fools, We’ll always believe in our dearest Toon. It’s like every week we get married again, we’re there in the sunshine or hammering rain, with St James’ Park as our holiest alter, we carry the flames for Sweeney and Alder, it’s there in our hearts and it brings us delight… tear us apart and we’ll bleed black n white We hold such a bond that no owner could sever .... In the hearts of the fans the Toon lives forever! PATRICK McCANN, Newcastle
