Swalwell need to give trip their best Shot

THE big match of the weekend sees the top two sides clash.

Swalwell’s tough opening to the season continues tomorrow as they travel to face last years runners-up Shotley Bridge.

Both teams won their opening-day fixtures with Shotley earning maximum points while Swalwell dropped four.

Shotley won this fixture comfortabl­y last year, securing a seven-wicket success as both clubs aim for an early-season advantage.

Lanchester begin their home campaign against Newcastle City tomorrow.

The hosts hope to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat at Swalwell, while Newcastle City will look to build on their maximum- points victory last weekend..

After last weekend’s cancellati­on, Ashington hope to finally kick off their season away at Percy Main.

Percy Main make two changes from their defeat at Newcastle City – Will Taylor replaces Andy Beer and Phil Cramman comes in for Dan McGee.

Tynedale host Ryton tomorrow, naming the same 11 which won at Lintz last Saturday.

Another tough match for Ryton, who lost at Shotley Bridge on the opening day.

Two teams looking a first victory meet at Consett with promoted Stocksfiel­d the opposition.

Consett were thwarted by the bad weather last week, their match at Ashington cancelled, while Stocksfiel­d suffered a home defeat in their first match in Division One.

Alnmouth and Lesbury, the third side to take maximum points on the opening day, face Lintz.
