ON your bike? Use the cycle lanes

It is quite clear that South Tyneside Council has spent money on creating a cycle path for almost the whole length of the coastal road between these two places.

Surely, if a cycle lane is in place then cyclists should use it. It is not there as an option. Also, it does seem to be the cyclists “with all the gear” that prefer the challenge of the traffic. That is the inevitable lycra duds, garish helmets with Where on point duty a giant copper stood, Resplendent in white coat and all, You waited for his signal! Then whizz along to Armstrong Bridge, that’s best, And left at the end up Jesmond Park West. At last I’ve got to school, as fast as I can, I think I almost beat the tram! Hometime was a quick reverse, Only traffic was always worse. Would I be in order to shout “use the cycle lane” as I drive past? Ooo, no, we can’t be doing that, we don’t want the cyclists (who pay nowt towards road upkeep) becoming upset. We could never have that, could we?
